چکیده

In this paper, the problem of how to better estimate spatially adaptive intensity bounds for image restoration is addressed. When the intensity bounds are estimated from a degraded image, blurring leads to underestimation of the bounds in the edge and texture regions. Therefore, an iterative implementation of the restoration algorithm has been proposed in which the intensity bounds are re-estimated from the current image estimate. However, direct update of the bounds leads to over-smoothing in regions where the bounds are active. Furthermore, the resulting algorithm exhibits slow convergence. In this paper, alternative methods of initially estimating and updating the bounds are proposed, and the results for the xedand updated-bound implementations are compared. A method for estimation of the bound tightness parameter is also proposed.

Application of iterative Jacobi method for an anisotropic diusion in image processing

Image restoration has been an active research area. Dierent formulations are eective in high qualityrecovery. Partial Dierential Equations (PDEs) have become an important tool in image processingand analysis. One of the earliest models based on PDEs is Perona-Malik model that is a kindof anisotropic diusion (ANDI) lter. Anisotropic diusion lter has become a valuable tool indierent elds of image...

Phase Only Synthesis of Antenna Patterns Using Iterative Restoration Methods

In this work, the method of iterative Fourier transform phase reconstruction, conventionally used in holography and optical image reconstruction, is applied to phase only synthesis of antenna patterns. The method is applied to two types of pattern synthesis problems: "main lobe beam shaping" and "side-lobe-level reduction". The proposed method is most useful in the efficient employment of attai...

A New Iterative Fuzzy-Based Method for Image Enhancement (RESEARCH NOTE)

This paper presents a new filtering approach based on fuzzy-logic which has high performance in mixed noise environments. This filter is mainly based on the idea that each pixel is not allowed to be uniformly fired by each of the fuzzy rules. In the proposed filtering algorithm, the rule membership functions are tuned iteratively in order to preserve the image edges. Several test experiments we...

Iterative Regularized Image Restoration Using Local Constraints

In this paper, we propose a spatially adaptive image restoration algorithm, using local statistics. The local variance, mean and maximum value are utilized to constraint the solution space. These parameters are computed at each iteration step using partially restored image. A parameter defined by the user determines the degree of local smoothness imposed on the solution. The resulting iterative...
